    Diocesan Initiatives and Events

    The AOE is presently co-ordinating the Laudato Si' Diocese and Green Diocese initiatives in the Archdiocese of Bombay; while supporting those of its collaborators

    Training / Awareness Sessions and Courses

    The AOE organises thematic sessions and also conducts these on request; while offering the Certificate Course for Eco Ambassadors in off-line and online modes

    Eco-Spirituality Retreats and Nature Camps

    Eco-retreats and camps are directed towards both religious and lay persons, particularly the youth, and are effective at promoting ecological consciousness

    Generally organised collaboratively with the AOE's partners and collaborators

    E-newsletters and Publications

    E-newsletters are now generally released every quarter; while publications tend to be released every two years

    Bishop Allwyn D'Silva

    Bishop In-Charge 


    With extensive experience at the grassroots, Bishop Allwyn ably guides the AOE, bringing in expertise and ideas from his various portfolios (too many to list!) – one of which being a member of the Dioceses and Parishes Working Group of the Laudato Si’ Action Platform.  He was the Head of the Office since its inception till his episcopal ordination in 2017.

    Fr Luke Rodrigues SJ

    Head

    A Jesuit of the Bombay Province, Fr Luke directs the activities of the Office.  Before taking over the reins in 2021 from Fr Joseph Gonsalves (Head: 2017-2021), he was a key member of the core group.  Fr Luke has shaped the five-point thrust of the Green Diocese initiative, and conducts courses, retreats and recollections in Eco-Spirituality and Eco-Theology.

    Ms Deepika Singh

    Secretary

    Deepika is an activist on a journey with “mother planet”.  She designs and implements several programmes that are directed towards change of mind-set.  The Secretary since inception; Deepika is currently fulfilling her role as Co-ordinator at the Office of Human Development / Climate Change Desk of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences.

    Ms Shawna Nemesia Rebello

    Consultant

    Associated with the AOE since 2015, Shawna is a Subject Matter Consultant responsible for content creation and development, fact-checking and reporting, while also planning and co-ordinating various initiatives, including for the Laudato Si' Action Platform.

    She has an identical role at the Commission for Ecology of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India.
